Work and Play!

Phew! What a month!

I am glad I managed to join the company at the perfect timing. New product launch, new teams to liaise with and interact, and of course making new acquiantances.

I am even more delighted that I am the Account Manager of the agency where my cousin is a part of! He was totally awesome in helping me mingle and introduce me to his team mates. And then I was also invited to his KND team's retreat! And yes, the camera added 5kg to my stomach. Maybe 7kg. Shut up.
At his retreat
Also, there was a huge Mid-Year party by Powerful Negotiators Group, held at ZOUK. I felt young again. And that was also because the people around me were around my age, very much unlike my last experience at the old ZOUK. Where someone called me UNCLE... Thank goodness my cousin was there as well, our first clubbing session together!
At ZOUK!
To draw your attention back to the earlier uncle situation. It was actually a reminisce Mambo Night event, and it was great. I went in with a date, we listened to all the old songs where we could jive and wiggle to. Even managed to get in for the 1 for 1 drinks madness. And then...

The music slowed a bit, and Britney Spears' "Oops I did it again" started playing. Now, this was a new song when I was in my teens, which was in the 90s, so it definitely wasn't a Mambo song. I couldn't dance to it at all, and pointed out to my friend that Britney Spears can't be playing at Mambo Night.

And then this SYT, dancing beside me on the dancefloor, obviously heard my comment. Cos she very kindly tapped me on my arm so I looked at her (my shoulder height btw), and in all earnestness, she said," UNCLE, Britney Spears is Mambo ah." She addressed me as UNCLE!!! And the worst part was, she wasn't even sarcastic, just genuinely trying to help me understand.

I didn't know to thank her or strangle the life out of her, so I decided to gulp down my jugs of whatever alcohol. Didn't remember much else of the night except this incident. Bitch.

Anyways back to the more fun event. I have to sincerely thank PNG for the invite. It was awesome. And really, really generous on their part. I might have had 30 or so bottles of Heineken, only because the leaders I came across kept passing me a beer the moment I was 10m near them.

that's me from the back view
Dun ask me what was I looking at. I dun even remember this thing happening. I just know it was a totally awesome event. And that I look pretty fit from the back. I'm in the white shirt just beside the stage btw. Nice shoulders hor.

I was also at a couple of other events, one was in Manekineko at SAFRA Toa Payoh (thanks to Premium Group - PropNex) where I could sing like a chicken being strangled. Probably why nobody signed up when I asked. Never sing, KJ. Never. Ever. Sing.

Another one was at Salt Grill & Sky Bar, courtesy of PropNex Absolute Division. I've never been there before, and holy crap the view was spectacular!
before alcohol
after many alcohol
Yes, I smile differently depending on how many drinks I've had. The more drinks I have, the wider my cheeks appear to be. Transformers, more than meets the eye... The menu was also very atas, just surprised that I was really stuffed after dinner! I mean, fine dining usually means fine portions, but credit where credit is due, the servings were enough, even for hungry me.

damn good dessert
Let me see if I can find more pics of the place.

So romantic right... Just reminded myself I'm single. Pui.

And finally, the last event was an impromptu one. PropNex Victory Division was scouting venues for their year end D&D, and they had a look at Baccarat Bar located in Suntec. It looked really posh, was easily accessible, and they had a very decent Happy Hour promo going on from 5-9pm daily.

I had Kilkenny, cos it was $10 per pint. I didn't have time to take pics of it though, not sure why the glass was always empty 5 seconds after it got to my table. Probably evaporation. All 3 pints too, think the air was really really dry in there. Not complaining, the wines were good too.

So yeah, if you wondered why my posts are changing from twice a week to once a month, it's only because I'm really swamped with work and events, and am doing my best to find time to update this with stuff apart from alcohol. Good luck on that.

2 Fresh Starts in July!!

Good Morning all!

Once more I have let the blog be long overdue. This is for a couple of reasons, allow me to divulge along the way.

I was in the midst of changing my career prospects from Marketing Institute of Singapore to 99.co so had to do a bit of house cleaning before I could part with a clear conscience. Do give your support to both my past and present places, huat ah!!
99.co

Also, if it wasn't obvious in my previous posts, I have been trying to date someone for the past 3 months. Me being me, it didn't work out because, well, I'm quite shit in relationships. Yes, full blame on me. My sincere apologies to you. But I'll come to that later on. Not sure if I can make it funny, but heck, I'm already a joke.

I really appreciate given the chance to join this start-up. Being less than 3 years in the industry, 99.co has already overtaken more established names, and are now currently number 2 in the market. Go online to research by yourself, no BS from me!

I really appreciate even more that my first day at work was to join in an event under Marcus Luah from the Propnex Powerful Negotiators group. You could see the top performers letting their hair down, and have their natural charisma shine through.

So I had a really good time at Altimate, since Marcus Luah generously booked the whole place for a few hours. I also have to say that he has really pretty agents under his teams, and when there was no performance going on, or when I was waiting for a refill of my (free flow) beer, my eyes were suitably busy. What an awesome TGIF.

I was shy to take the selfies, but they were necessary! We were also up at 1Altitude to take a group shot, so I found time to sneak away to a corner and take a scenic selfie. There are more pictures but I didn't get their permission so I'm not posting any of those. Although I think I might have to apologise to Altimate's management for requesting techno songs towards the end of the event. Actually not at all, I freaking loved it!

That's the song that sparked (full pun intended) the short techno party till management complained about the chanting... Hahaha. Shiok.

Now to more sombre news, I went from potentially dating, to being definitely single once more. Not all bad news since I totally forgot how pricey dating could be, so this is a welcome relief for my wallet, and allows me to restructure my finances such that I am better prepared next time round. Wait, let me grab a drink to feel better...
*HIC* Being older, more mature, and more composed *burp*, I find myself handling this latest development a lot better than expected. Also helps that I am thoroughly swamped with work, so I generally have enough energy at the end of the day to crawl into bed after I shower and wake up ready for the next challenge.

But I have to admit, dating felt nice. It brought back emotions that I haven't experienced in quite a while, and I think I'm finally emotionally ready to find a partner. Ladies, collect your queue number!
Oei, how come even number 1 also not taken up ah... Oh ya, 5 readers...

Oh ya! I had damn good fishball noodles, at Keat Hong CC, directly opposite Lot 1. PGFN is the name of the place. Go for it, people. Good service, great tasting food. I like. Plus the original stall has been around since 1982, so the great taste has been refined and perfected over the years. Best thing is, this outlet is open 24 hours! ROAR!!!

So that's about it for now, I'll keep you guys posted once I sort out the ability to add more photos to my google photos album. **Latest update - my photos are linked once more**
