Horny Goat Weed, 1 became 2 and GotG vol. 2

I have to admit, I was really tied up with work appointments this week, so was too busy to explore and experience new places. Mostly I just wanted to go home after work and rest the day away. I even had a short break on Thursday, but I think I spent most of it being comatose. Let me tell you this, once you go past 35 years of age, it goes really downhill from there.

Anyways, I had the fortune to meet a couple of my sec school friends for a midweek dinner, and we popped by to MBFC since one of them wanted to pick his wife for a short date after she ends work.

I was a bit early so I headed to this place called Boulevard. Maybe it was the cosy ambience, maybe the happy hour beer, but something just drew my attention to quickly take a seat and order a pint of Carlsberg there. Can't put my finger on it, but for some reason not regretting my decision either.
just some of the staff working there
I'll let you know after I figure out the allure of Boulevard, what a mystery. But thereafter my hunger pangs hit, and there was another option directly opposite with a set dinner, so we went for that instead. Erwin's Gastrobar has a pretty good daily set, and if you consider standalone prices, then the main dish is only $10++, and this is for a dinner smack in the middle of CBD.

But I didn't order that, and my friends didn't allow me to take any pictures, so I only managed to take a photo of my own meal. Food is important, never skip a meal. I made sure mine was a hearty intake so that I could sleep well.
so hearty that I nearly ordered 2 dinners
So then the rest of the week happened. Dun even ask me what was going on, I'm still figuring that one out for myself. Like, I know I made appointments, I know I went for those appointments, but I think in between I was on autopilot mode.

Towards the end of the week, I needed to get some supplements. Apparently there are some for your liver, which is necessary if you think having one is a good thing. Yes, obviously I know the best way is to stop drinking, and I have told that to myself too many times.

In my case, my liver had been naughty so I have used a lot of alcohol to punish it, but then I decided that maybe it's time to give it a break and some treats to boost its morale. While browsing through the supplements at a Watson's, I saw this:
*giggling like a schoolboy who found porn*
Ok I lie, I still giggle when I find good porn. But enough of that revelation, let's go back to (snigger snigger giggle) Horny Goat Weed.  I dun even know if this is an effective aphrodisiac, but damn it sounds fun. I mean, they could display the word 'Horny' in family friendly shops! I did read up on it a little and I think it's meant to raise overall vitality, while some sites also say the components help with sexual arousal and stuff like that. But I'm only 37 years young and in good virile condition so I didn't bother buying it. Yes ladies, I challenge you to find out about my virility for yourselves.

I think maybe naming it Horny Rabbit Weed or Horny Hamster Weed might cause this to be snatched off the shelves by the cartons, assuming it even makes it to the shelf. Come on, we all know those critters reproduce non-stop so much that they make AV actors and actresses look like level 1 novices. In fact I also believe that if you name it as such, they may be sold even faster than when that Taiwan Milk Tea came to SG.

Remember the news about that? I simply adore the guy who bought them by the cartons just because he could. Especially after the news reports on the recall of the milk tea due to the unapproved ingredients. Ha ha, dumbass.
double ha ha for you, my good man

But apparently they launched a new flavour, Rose Milk Tea, on 20 May, since the date is supposed to be a homonym of 'I love you' in Mandarin. If you have really bad pronunciation. And I have to admit, it tastes excatly like what I expected, which is Teh Peng added to Bandung. A decent blend, but I dun think that guy would be sweeping them off the shelves. Maybe cos it's more suited for ladies' tastebuds. Unless you really really like bandung. You gu niang. Not judging.

To make sure the hand matches the packaging perfectly, I tried on red nail polish. And I even made sure to find a decent background, which was a pillar at Swenson's in Bishan Junction 8. And I had a really good reason to be there. Cos it was a day that 1 finally became 2. Yes everyone, I have great news to announce!

BUY 1 GET 1 FREE!!!
Buy a sundae and get a second one free! Best (non-alcohol) definition of 1 becomes 2 if I have ever seen one. It has been a very long while since I last tried Sticky Chewy Chocolate Sundae, in fact I dun think I have eaten it for 8 years liao. It was an all time fave of mine, but I got fat eating that so I decided to not eat it at all.  But after a stressful week, it was necessary for me to indulge myself in alcohol free ways, and this was as good as it gets. Now I just hope they have the same promo in 8 years time.

the other one is some nutty flavour
See also shiok, and then also teeth ache. The taste was just as I remembered, although age has now caught up, and my teeth and gums are shouting bloody murder. In Hokkien. Very explicit Hokkien. Not able to write them out here, damn vulgar. So if you hear profanities coming from my mouth, it's not me, it's my teeth. Wait, were you guys thinking of another story regarding 1 became 2? Can't be la, I'm still advertising for ladies to test out my virility (see above).

But like I mentioned, do not skip meals. Especially those that are magical. For example, freaking flying noodles!!

Ignore the warm sake, that was for the photo. Really. More important was the fact that I did not hallucinate. Cos freaking flying noodles!! This was at Forum Shopping Mall, a place called Hana Singapore

We had the Salted Egg Soba and the Truffle Soba. I dun know what to tell you, both of them were great. I preferred the taste of the Truffle one cos I am damn atas, but both were equally good. Not often that I have no complaints about food, so do head down to give this a try. I even had my usual group of once a week stalkers following me to this place.

I ended the week catching a movie I really really wanted to watch, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. My advice, stick all the way to the end of the credits, cos there are 5 post credits scenes!

If you haven't already caught it, what the fuck heck are you waiting for? Dun go and download la, watch in the movie theatre please.

Seriously, you will love this show. Chris Pratt as Starlord is a smart-ass as usual, bringing his comedic talents honed from his Parks and Recreation stint to the next level. Dave Bautista as Drax had an awesome script, and he pulled it off to perfection. I didn't know he could be this funny. What massive upgrade from the angst-ridden character from the first show. Then of course Baby Groot is beyond adorable, putting all the rest to shade.

cuteness overload
I am only posting Baby Groot gifs for those scenes you have already seen in the trailers, so no spoilers given. I also think people who give away spoilers ought to pay money to those who haven't watched the film, so that they would shut their mouths and let others watch the movie with all the plot twists and endings on their own.

So to conclude, it was a good week, albeit a little too busy to enjoy the smaller things in life. But I made the most of it, and so should every one else.

Signing off,
KJ
